Is It Time for a Heater Upgrade?

The majority of the calls we receive right before winter hits are about heater upgrades. People dealing with broken, old, and damaged heaters call us when they start to panic about the cold that lies ahead. Most heater upgrades that we tend to are due to negligence in maintenance or not replacing the heater when it shows signs of failure.

So, why wait for winter to get your heater upgraded when you can get the job done now? Let’s look at 4 signs your heater needs an upgrade:

1. Endless Repairs

How many times have you called a service to repair your heater in the last few years? You shouldn’t have to repair your system too often. Once in a couple of years is more than enough. But if you have been calling for repairs more than once a year, it may be time to upgrade your heater.

Sometimes repairs really are the answer. You can easily fix a small problem with a repair. However, in serious cases, no amount of repairs can fix a unit that has broken beyond repair. Like with other things in life, you should know when to give up your home’s heating unit and spend money on upgrading it rather than repairing it again and again.

2. Loud and Strange Noises

If your unit is making clanking, squeaking, or rumbling noises, it is time for a heater upgrade. Weird or loud noises coming from your home heating unit are sure signs of replacement. Whether your furnace is groaning or the blower is whistling louder than before, the noises are uncalled for. Call a service that upgrades heating in Vineland, NJ.

Even a hissing sound is too serious to be ignored. If your heat pump is making a hissing noise, you probably have a refrigerant leak that needs to be sealed, but if your gas furnace is making the hissing noise, there might be a hazardous problem on your hands that could be detrimental to your health and safety!

3. High Energy Bills

If your home heating unit is costing you a lot of money, not just in repairs but also in energy bills, it is time to replace it. There is absolutely no need for you to show mercy to a heating unit that drains your wallet and does not even reduce the environmental impact of your carbon footprint.

If your bills are rising for no obvious reason, it is time for a heater upgrade since older and inefficient systems will always consume more energy to perform the same function that a new and advanced heater can. When you can’t fix this inefficiency, throw your old unit out!

4. An Aged Unit

An old and damaged unit is just as bad. Most heating units typically last for about a decade. As your furnace, heat pump, and boiler get older, they become less efficient and much more costly to repair. You should get rid of these troubles and simply opt for a heater upgrade right away, even if you aren’t facing any problems currently because you will soon start to face them.

Heaters are only designed to last for so long, and if you are running a heater too far past its prime, then it is time to let that system go. If you don’t, you will only be wasting energy and money instead of saving money by installing a new and high-efficient heating system.
